Dental Implant FAQs
Q. Is the implant placement painful?
A. Most of our patient's say they are amazed at how comfortable they were during and after their treatment. Dr. Djawdan is a skilled and gentle surgeon who is always mindful of your comfort. This treatment can be done with local anesthesia and or with sedation.
Q. How much pain will I feel after implant placement?
A. You may have little to no discomfort. We will call in prescriptions in advance to help prevent swelling and discomfort.
Q. What can I eat after having an implant placed?
A. We recommend a soft food diet for a few days.
Q. How long does placement, healing and construction of the replacement teeth take?
A. This depend on the foundation we have to place the implant(s). Dr. Djawdan will be able to provide you with an accurate timeline with a CT CAT scan taken here in our office and planning your tooth replacement in virtual 3D imaging software.
Q. How do I care for my implant?
A. Home care for your implants consists of brushing and flossing. Dental implants are not subject to decay, but do require healthy supporting bone. Good oral health and regular dental cleaning/exam visits are required to prevent gum disease/bone to ensure long-term health and success.
Q. How long does an implant last?
A. Once the implant has integrated with your bone, it should last 30 years or more with good oral health and preventative care. The first dental implant placed more than forty years ago was still with the patient when he passed away in 2009.
